Shamelessly stolen from Mrs Redboots because I love Harry Potter:
12", Holly, Dragon
You scored 63 wisdom, 27 bravery, 5 emotional, and 16 martyrdom!
Holly is a powerful protective wood that good for use against evil, but it also represents dreams and fertility. Your dragon's heartstring core makes your wand very effective in hexes.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

OK - I stole this from [info]mrs_redboots (who in turn stole it from one of her friends) because it looked like an interesting way to avoid The Dissertation for a while!

1. One book that changed your life?
None so far. I normally read to escape reality, so books don't seem to have such a dramatic effect on me.

2. One book you have read more than once?
I read any book that I like more than once. I would guess the books that have been re-read the most are Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre and Emma. As a child I must have re-read the Anne of Green Gables series so much that I can still quote large chunks of it!

3. One book you would want on a desert island?
Hmmmm - tough. Probably complete works of Shakespeare for the infinite variety it offers. Alternatively the complete works of Jane Austen.

4. One book that made you cry?
Villette, but other than that any book where a main character is killed. I get far too emotionally attached to them.

5. One book that made you laugh?
The Harry Potter books

6. One book you wish had been written?
From my experience there seems to be a book on every subject nowadays. Ideally a book that could have told me at 13 all that I would know at 28.

7. One book you wish had never had been written?
Lord Of The Flies - I hate it.

8. One book you are currently reading?
In The Name of The Rose by Umberto Eco, just started.

9. One book you have been meaning to read?
Captain Correlli's Mandolin - to see if it is worth all the fuss people made of it a few years ago. I've started a few times, but never really got into it and then work would always get busy.

1.Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest. Check
6. Tag five people

OK - from a book that [info]mintypoppet lent to me (so that gives you a clue as to subject!)

"Without him, there might not have been a career at all. His fees were another expense my parents had to shoulder - there were never any freebies - but I like to think it was a good investment on everybody's part. He charges $52 an hour now - a modest sum, considering his achievements."

So there we go. The sad thing is that all my friends on LJ have now been tagged, so guess I'm unpopular ;-)
